Capital XTRA’s Music Potential 2018 Ambassadors

We get up-close and personal with one of this year’s Capital XTRA’s Music Potential 2018 ambassadors, M.O…

M.O, which stands for ‘Modus Operandi‘ meaning “a particular way to do something“, are an English female recording group consisting of members Annie Ashcroft, Chanal Benjilali and Nadine Samuels.

With influences including TLC, Jennifer Lopez, Aaliyah and All Saints, M.O filmed their first A64 session for the hugely influential online platform SBTV, re-imagining the Brandy & Monica classic, ‘The Boy Is Mine’, with a little help from UK rap artist Lady Leshurr. This went on to become SBTV’s most viewed debut A64 with over 200,000 views, as well as Twitter support from the likes of Ed Sheeran and K. Koke.

One month later their debut single, produced by Show N Prove, ‘Wait Your Turn’ was premiered by Tastemaker Music and DJ MistaJam, while the song’s attitude-heavy video was later premiered by The Guardian.

Since then, the girls have continued to steadily build an impressive reputation – becoming a mainstay on major radio stations, an accomplishment almost unheard of for a new UK female band. In addition to this, M.O have worked with producers such as WOZ of Black Butter Records for their track ‘Come Let Me Show You’ and RackNRuin for their track, ‘Ain’t Got Time’.

Following a milestone year for Afrobeats in the UK music scene, M.O, along with Birmingham’s Lotto Boyzz and Nigerian star, Mr. Eazi teamed up to form one of the hottest collaborations of the year with ‘Bad Vibe’, adding to their UK Top 20, certified Gold-selling hit, ‘Who Do You Think Of’.

Co-written with Grammy-nominated Grades and DYO, ‘Bad Vibe’ brings together a gorgeous, tropical vibe to the kind of bassline you’d expect from a lineup this heavy-duty. It makes ‘Bad Vibe’ a clear contender for one of the most inspired co-signs of 2018.

We look forward to working alongside M.O for Capital XTRA’s Music Potential 2018!
