The Telegraph’s social media team sits within Editorial, working across a diverse range of platforms to ensure their content reaches the widest possible audience. Follow @Telegraph on Twitter or The Telegraph on Instagram to see examples of their social coverage.

The Telegraph are looking for a passionate and dedicated intern to join the team for 9 months from mid-September 2018. You will work closely with the editorial team day-to-day in our Central London office. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring social media journalists to work with a national newspaper, contributing to our social media success.

You’ll be part of a team who are responsible for editing and maintaining the Telegraph’s main social media feeds, and working with other desks across the newsroom to developing ideas.  You’ll help the team promote the use of social media and conduct research on social media trends and emerging platforms, tools and channels.

As a member of The Telegraph Internship Programme, you’ll participate in learning and development opportunities and be paid the London Living Wage.


  • Enthusiastic and self-starting
  • Strong writing skills, with evidence of previous writing experience (whether a personal blog, with a local newspaper or in student publications)
  • Understanding of The Telegraph’s reputation and readership
  • Understanding of online publishing and social media
  • Efficient, organised, motivated and proactive
  • Strong communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
