Over the next few months, we’ll be telling you some of the amazing stories from our hubs up and down the UK and Ireland. We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved and of all the hard work done by our hub workers and awesome champions. Here’s John’s story…
Before taking part in The Big Music Project, John suffered with things like anxiety, depression, self harm and suicidal thoughts. To help himself cope with this, John turned to volunteering, coursework and, then, music.
John’s Big Music Project
The Project that John is working on focuses on showcasing the music created by students taking their music production courses. This is done through the managing of a label to help create a CD to showcase the students’ work.
John still suffers from anxiety and depression but now he has a group of people around him that help him cope and deal with these problems. The Big Music Project has helped John develop the confidence to interact with people, voice his opinions and pursue his dream of becoming a music producer. When we asked John how The Big Music Project made a difference to his life, he said “It’s given me the chance to be me”.
