LCCM’s Working With Words: The New Perspectives on Writing, 19th April @ London

Do you love the written word?

Through authorship, publishing, copywriting, game writing and much more, LCCM’s BA in Creative and Professional writing is designed to inspire and educate.

Taking place on Wednesday 19th April 2017 at renowned writing hub Foyles Charing Cross, this evening event will provide valuable insight into the types of careers the writing industries can offer. This free event will be led by our programme leader KT Forster (ex managing director Virgin Books) and will feature top industry speakers, followed by an interactive panel and networking. This is the perfect event for finding out more about our writing degree and/or the types of careers you can now aspire to as a writer.


Luke Openshaw – Games, Film and Multi Platform Writing

Luke has written material for Frogwares, Starbreeze, Maschinen-Mensch, Sainsbury’s, Argos, the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain and in-house at Ironlord Projects. Specific videogame and film projects include; Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter (XBOXONE, PS4, PC), The Curious Expedition (PC, mobile, tablets), The Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena (XBOX 360, PS3, PC), Syndicate (XBOX 360, PS3, PC), Money Kills (film) and for The Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Videogame Writing Award 2017.

Andrew Walsh – Games Writing

Andrew has worked as a writer, designer, director or story consultant on more than 60 videogames and counting, making him a one-stop-shop from concept to pre-production, on to scripting, voice and performance capture, or localisation.

Clients have included Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Codemasters, 2K Marin, Sony, Creative Assembly, SEGA, Side, THQ wireless, Koch, Deep Silver, Egosoft, Nokia, Jadestone, Lionhead, Microsoft, Razorback, BAM, Vis Interactive, G5 and many more.

KT Forster – Publishing

KT is currently a literary agent and consultant advising on all aspects of writing, authorship and the book publishing industry. Before her decision to start her own company she was one of the most influential publishers in the country, as the Managing Director of Virgin Books, part of the international Virgin Group. In 2008 she led the company through its acquisition by Random House publishers, part of the Bertelsmann Group.

KT has published across a wide range of genres and with many personalities, including Sir Richard Branson, Carol Vorderman, Wayne Rooney, Mark Lewisohn, Usain Bolt, Olly Murs, Carol McGiffin, Lorraine Kelly, Marcus Butler and Anthea Turner.

Jenny Parrott – Fiction & Publishing

Jenny Parrott has worked in publishing since 1987, and she has acquired for Bloomsbury, HarperCollins and Little Brown. Currently she is a specialist consultant in literary fiction, tutors creative writing for Arvon and Espirita, and is a preliminary judge for one of the Costa prizes. She also runs the Point Blank literary crime, thriller and suspense imprint at Oneworld. She has a three-novel deal with Orion for a series of commercial women’s sagas written under the pseudonym Kitty Danton.

Who should attend?

This event will be of particular interest to young people considering a higher education course in writing or literature, careers advisors attending on behalf of sixth forms or writers keen to hear about new industry opportunities.
