Are you an aspiring artist? Want to get into artist development or A&R? Mark Bounds gave us the lowdown on what emerging artists need to look out for and how they can establish their career, during his ‘The Artist Health Checklist’ Master Class in October.
Mark’s background is in A&R, beginning at Sony UK in the 90s, working with Roger Sanchez, The Crystal Method, Satoshi Tomiie and Puretone, before setting up an A&R consultancy and consulting to Sony Europe, Sony Japan, BMG Australia, The Voice UK and Jeepster Recordings, to name a few.
Mark also works in the contemporary music education sector, having consulted to the British & Irish Modern Music Institute in the UK and the Academy of Contemporary Music prior to that. He sits on the Advisory Board for SXSWedu, works with Arts Council England and The Great Escape to deliver their artist development programme and has delivered panels on the future of artist development as far afield as SXSW, BIGSOUND in Australia and lots more!
Mark has a passion for learning the lessons of performance development from other industries, especially sport, and translating those lessons for the music industry to ensure that the future of performance development in music is recognized as the vital aspect it deserves to be. He is currently researching a paper on this entitled ’The Talentborrowers’
